Kaufmann / Dresser / Eisenstadt - Starmelodics

An explosive trio formed by the German pianist Achim Kaufmann, the American double bassist Mark Dresser and the Canadian drummer/percussionist Harris Eisenstadt.
All three musicians are also composers, with a significant presence as leaders or members of well-known ensembles as well as in works released by talented labels (Clean Feed, Leo, Red Toucan, Tzadik).
Nine pieces here: six are compositions (the longest ones), the remaining three are improvised takes, all showing a surprising cohesion among the players (despite their refined artistic individuality exhibited elsewhere).
Each composition could be described with attributes such as: naturalness and simplicity (“Starmelodics”), irregularity and unpredictability (“Vancouver”), monochromy and abstraction (“Birdz”) melody and rhythm (“FLAC”), resonance and dynamism (“Qualtinger”), poetics and inspiration (“Seattle”).
Inspiration, it's so, three inspired artists with a distinguishing conceptual approach, skilled to manage both free improvisation passages and more "regular" sounds with excellent results.
Another superb collaborative recording available for fans of this kind of music.
